Go check out this Amazon review of Charles Francis Adams’s Three Episodes of Massachusetts History (BiblioLife, 2009)–click and scroll down to Editorial Reviews towards the bottom of the page (h/t Peter Mancall). I’ll wait.
HA-ha. Even funnier is this explanation (also on the Amazon page) of the reprint of an out-of-copyright edition of Adams’s book:
This is a pre-1923 historical reproduction that was curated for quality. Quality assurance was conducted on each of these books in an attempt to remove books with imperfections introduced by the digitization process. Though we have made best efforts – the books may have occasional errors that do not impede the reading experience.
Right on! Let’s hope this curated edition of Adams’s book is more accurate than Amazon’s review. (When you click on the linked “Hardcover edition” in the review, it clicks back to another edition of CFA’s Three Episodes.)
Ah, Amazon. May your crappy collation of digitized old books with random modern works never cease to disgust visitors!

Legend has it there was a Fourth Episode involving canny predictions of future gynecological practices. Since the authors were burned at the stake as witches, the Fourth Episode has long been believed to have disappeared entirely. Intrepid Amazon.com rare-book experts have unearthed this missing episode, discovered in a pawn shop near Worcester. Please disregard any imperfections introduced by the digitization process.

It looks like they’ve fixed the problem, but it was funny while it lasted. (The review was about a textbook on gynecological surgeries, which is something that surely would have mortified CFA!)
