Summer is ready when you are

Some more 90s nostalgia pour les femmes d’un certain age:

I hope you’re all enjoying some “crank air” wherever you are on this first day of summer.  Here’s my view with a room in the little mountain hamlet I’m visiting this weekend:

In the meantime–Roxie has a great post up in response to my posts about institutional loyalty this week.  Go check her out–the crafty terrier makes the case for group solidarity in these tough times for faculty in the era of the corporatized and privatized American university.

  1. Upon watching the video, it makes me miss those grunge girls from the 1990s! Nowadays, being a girl/woman takes so much maintenance–and not just because I’m older. It seems like most of my women students have styled and highlighted hair, visit tanning booths, and engage in some serious depilation with various body parts waxed professionally.

I’m glad I went to college and grad school in the relatively hairy and unkempt 80s and 90s. I don’t know how my students can afford all of this body maintenance.

On the views: it’s a good thing to live in Colorado. I like driving 2-3 hours and getting someplace that looks entirely different from where I live. That’s one thing about living in SW Ohio I didn’t like: driving 2-3 hours, or even 4, 5, or 6 hours in any direction put you in a place that looks a heck of a lot like where you started.

Let me have it!
