AHA 2010 report: no jobs, but excellent views

Reader and commenter Frustrated Full Professor sent along this photos of the view from her hotel room.  First thing in the morning, at right:

Similar view at dusk, at left.

And finally:  lest we forget, San Diego is a big military town.  Anchors aweigh!

I’ll post Classy Claude’s second report as soon as it comes across the teletype machine.  (Claude’s kind of a retro guy.)  Don’t miss C. Vann Winchell’s reporting on this year’s “still sleepy AHA,” as ze calls it.

  1. Whuh happened to that island in the foreground between the evening shot and the morning shot?!? Did they have to dredge a big overnight channel through it to get that destroyer into its berth? The report on the previous thread of some interviews emerging on-site suggests that maybe travel against-the-grain to a thinly-attended conference is a good strategic move for contrarian-minded candidates. Hopefully, anyway.

Let me have it!
